Summary

Once – sixty-six days ago, to be exact – life was normal for 16-year-old Adam Daley, his family and his suburban community of Eden Mills, Ontario. Then a sudden, unexpected global loss of electricity and power occurred. Since then, in sixty-six short days, life has changed almost beyond imagination. Now everything is in short supply: food, fresh water, fuel and medical supplies and services. Transportation and communication have virtually stopped. Even cell phones aren’t working. Schools, banks, stores, factories and all services are closed. Almost everything that people once took for granted in their daily lives is gone. Trust and security are also in short supply. With the shortages and the uncertainty, desperation, and ruthlessness are growing. No one feels safe - no one can afford to feel safe or secure. People are struggling just to survive and to protect their families. There is widespread looting. Communities have banded together to protect the few resources that they have, closing themselves to “outsiders” and fortifying themselves against outside threats. Worse, some communities have even been intentionally destroyed by others. In a horrific clash, Eden Mills has just narrowly managed to defend itself against a group of outsiders bent on destroying it. Now a deadly threat from inside Eden Mills is brewing. Someone from within is plotting something which will destroy the community. Almost no one knows about it … but everyone will be affected. “The enemy is everywhere.” Fight for Power continues the suspenseful, enthralling and thought-provoking story that began in Eric Walters’ The Rule of Thre3, winner of the 2015 Red Maple Fiction Award. A third book in the series, Will to Survive, will soon be available. ** Recommended for ages 11 to 16 years.
