I was really looking forward to listening to this, and I was greatly disappointed. Every single proverbial phrase, idiomatic phrase, and homonym are relentlessly punned; what starts as funny and playful quickly degrades into annoying and cloying display of pretentious cleverness, and ultimately eye-rolling tedium. The reader doesn't change his voice for any of the characters and is fairly consistent throughout: just a man with an Irish accent, including the lengthy monologue of Mrs. Bloom at the end. One can't tell whether its the narrator saying something or whether its a character, and all of the wordplay makes it difficult to discern what is going on, what is being described or what is being pronounced upon.
