Fascinating look at WII from the perspective of one of the central participants. Churchill writes with wonderful English. At times, some of his analyses seem a little "preachy," or "I told you so." While written as a work of history, it was written very close to the time of the events described. Thus, dispassionate analysis this is not. Nevertheless, a fascinating account of the period from Versaille (more really from the early 1930's) until the German attack on France. A long read, but written in a way that you can read it in small "bites." Took me about 3 months of intermittent reading. I do plan to read the next episode in the series, "Their Finest Hour."
