The third book in the Ya-Ya series is a winner! With a transgenerational short-story approach, YA-YAs IN BLOOM begins with the stories of how Vivi, Teensy, Necie and Carolyn first met (age 4 or thereabouts), with further insight into their individual family dynamics. The stories follow the Ya-Yas into marriage and motherhood -- the Petites Ya-Yas generation -- and beyond to grandparenthood -- the Tres Petites Ya-Yas. As in LITTLE ALTARS EVERYWHERE, the second Ya-Ya book, each story serves to enrich author Rebecca Wells'' unforgettable characters beyond DIVINE SECRETS OF THE YA-YA SISTERHOOD. Unlike LITTLE ALTARS EVERYWHERE, though, the stories are generally positive in nature, giving insight into the characters and their backgrounds and motivations rather than digging dirt and airing dirty laundry. Highly recommended... but you''ll definitely want to read DIVINE SECRETS and probably LITTLE ALTARS too before tackling IN BLOOM.
