Don't be put off by the front cover. Really heartwarming story.

I actually shed a couple of tears the first two times I read this book to my 3-yr-old son. It's a really touching story about how happiness and friendships come to those who are open to them. A tad wordier / longer than what I'd usually prefer to read to my toddler, but he loves it anyway. Heartwarming.
