If you couldn't tell it from reading his works of fiction, Tony Hillerman loved the Southwest. Shorn of the characters and story, he is most informative about geology, anthropology, and Time. The photos that end the book (the essays, preceding) are worth the wait to see. This book is a hidden treasure. Get it while you can ( Tony's come back into fashion again).
