Outstanding biography of America's 33rd President. Having also read David McCullough's bio of John Adams (which spawned the HBO miniseries), I now also want to read his books on the Wright Brothers, the Brooklyn Bridge and the Panama Canal.

Truman was the first book I read by David McCullough and I found it a fascinating and fast read. Everything I knew about Truman growing up was different then what I was told.. He was a remarkable and complex man. Smart and extremely loyal. Just the story of his relationship with his family and with Bess and Margaret is worthy of reading this book.

Alternative formats?? No every person can read small print. Yes, CD, ebook. Got the CD & it was huge! Could not finish despite the effort.

A true labor of love by David McCullough. I read a review describing this book as "a love letter to Harry Truman", and it stands up to that description.

A clear and compellingly written account of a fine man who faced some unprecedented challenges.

The definitive biography of the President. McCullough is one of the great treasures of American writers, and he tells the story of Harry Truman with an expert's eye and a gift for prose.

The fact that I finished this 1000 page book says a lot about it. :)
