Some days are Snurtch days. Ruthie is having one of those.

Ruthie has a problem at school.

It is not the students. It is not the classroom. It is not the reading or the writing or the math. It is something scribbly, scrunchy, grabby, burpy, and rude. It is the Snurtch.

From the team behind I Don't Like Koala , this clever picture book takes a discerning look at the challenges of behaving and controlling your emotions--especially when your own personal monster keeps getting in the way.

Cute pictures (reminded me a little of Wreck It Ralph) and story, but I didn't really understand what the Snurtch kids, however, were not hampered by their analysis. Upon rereading, they started seeing that the Snurtch and girl had the same facial expressions, and started drawing their own conclusions about what it means to have a Snurtch.

I loved the colored pencils of the drawings and the expressions of the characters jumped off the page. Perfect for all kiddos - but especially those who are struggling with behavior issues in preschool or elementary school.

Charles Santoso is a wonderful illustrator and does a great job with this cute story.

Even though the subject is listed as "imaginary playmates", I think this book would work equally well to start discussions about worries or fears that sometimes manifest themselves in our behavior. Kids might just like it because it has monster drawings!
