The post-apocalyptic tale of one girl's efforts to survive alone in a devastated town-and what happens when a mysterious stranger appears-from Newbery Award-winning author, Robert C. O'Brien, is now a major motion picture starring Margot Robbie, Chris Pine, and Chiwetel Ejiofor! Ann Burden is completely alone. The world as she once knew it is gone, ravaged by a nuclear war that has taken everyone from her. For the past year, she has lived in a remote valley with no evidence of any other survivors. But the smoke from a distant campfire shatters Ann's solitude. Someone else is still alive and making his way toward the valley. Who is this man? What does he want? Can he be trusted? Both excited and terrified, Ann soon realizes there may be worse things than being the last person on Earth.

A stunningly beautiful location in the mountains can't compensate for a thin plot and slow pace. Granted it was probably realistic but there's little dynamism between the three actors; little real tension most of the time and the enigmatic ending doesn't lift this rather pedestrian film to a higher level despite its interesting premise. Pity.

What a dull movie. Don't recommend it to anyone. The ending makes you wonder what really happened.

Wow. Z For Zachariah is one of the best films I have seen in the past decade (along with El Método). I cannot recommend it highly enough. WATCH THIS FILM ❤

Didn't read the book; don't intend to. Don't care about Zachariah. In judging this post-apocalyptic love triangle solely on its own merits, I found the premise interesting and compelling enough, and the threesome in the cast did a fine job. I was initially disappointed with the abruptness of the ending, but after some reflection, I think it was perfect. An appropriate and deserving finish.

Spoiler alert: there is no Zachariah. There is not even one mentioned. The "action scenes" in this movie are watching someone walk through the woods. I was bored for the entire movie--something I never say. Even Chiwetel Ejiofor and Chris Pine couldn't make it interesting. Skip this and use your time for something worthy of you.

If you loved the book as I did, you will be disappointed, even annoyed, at watching this movie, as the storyline has been changed considerably. However, if you haven't read the book, then this movie is OK, though the plot has enormous potential and this movie could have been much more than what it is. Two stars for the movie and a third star for Chris's muscles (watch closely when he builds a water wheel!).

Missed something: who is Z? I kept waiting for something to happen - anything. There is no action, no suspense. The storyline is very weak. From the trailer, I had expected something much more.

Somewhat predictable, but I managed to watch it til the end. So-so movie, although the acting was great.

Ho hum. Another story changed for Hollywood. Book is totally different with no Chris Pine character, but given that his addition adds so much to the story I DON'T CARE! Enjoy the angst between the characters and super yummy make-out scene.
