Well-produced biography of one of America's best female writers. The film reveals the poverty and darker moments of Alcott's life. Her brilliant but feckless father spent too much time chasing Utopia, and his failure to support his family mean Alcott was molded into the family breadwinner, even when she was grappling with exhaustion and depression. On a bright note, her love of words and determination to carve out her own path in life are sincerely depicted. Little Women brought her success and a financial respite that she well deserved; she criticized herself for writing pulp fiction for younger women as a mainstay. There's some commentary on the importance of the New England abolitionist culture itself, and Thoreau and other leading transcendalists who created a reliable support network for Alcott.

Intriguing and an interesting documenatry about the life of Louisa Alcott, the Author of many books, including "Little Women".. She also wrote under the pseudonym, and not all her published works were found or known..
