Claire: When confronted with the impossible, the rational mind will grope for the logical. Perhaps I had stumbled onto the set of a cinema company filming a costume drama of some sort. But there was no logical reason for actors to fire live ammunition.
Frank: Apparently there's a circle of standing stones on a hill just outside the village, and there's a local group who still observe rituals there. Well, they're not actually witches. This lot are meant to be Druids. ... A place called Craigh Na Dun. So according to local folklore, these stones were carried here from Africa by a race of Celtic giants.
Claire: They might be called Redcoats instead of Tommies, but they were still the British Army I had been a part of for six long years. And somehow it felt liberating to be looked upon with sympathy and respect instead of hostility and suspicion.
Claire (Opening narrative:) People disappear all the time. Young girls run away from home. Children stray from their parents and are never seen again. Housewives take the grocery money, and a taxi to the train station. Most are found eventually. Disappearances, after all, have explanations.
Claire: The war had taught me to cherish the present because tomorrow might not ever come to pass. What I didn’t know at the time was that tomorrow would prove less important than yesterday. ... Sex was our bridge back to one another. The one place where we always met. Whatever obstacles presented themselves during the day or night, we could seek out and find each other again in bed. As long as we had that, I had faith that everything would work out.
Claire: The Scots just want the same freedoms we enjoy, freedoms we take for granted. They are not the aggressors, Captain, we are. It is their land and we are occupying it.
Thomas; I believe it’s the King's land. I must say, Madam, I find your sympathies extraordinarily puzzling.
Jamie: It doesn't matter where you come from. You're here.
Claire recited Thomas Morley:
Absence here thou my protestation
Against they strength,
Distance and length:
Do what thou canst for alteration,
For hearts of truest mettle
Absence doth join and Time doth settle.
Geilliss: Sometimes you find yourself on a path you never expected. Doesn’t mean it can’t lead you to a bonne place.
Claire: I was back to the place where'd it all begun. So much had happened, so much had changed. Last I was here I was Claire Randall, then Claire Beauchamp and Claire Fraser. The question was, who did I want to be?
Claire: Not only was I a bigamist and an adulteress but I had enjoyed it.
Mrs. Graham: The circle at Craigh na Dun marks a place on the Earth where the powers of nature come together - for certain people on certain days, it allows them to pierce the veil of time.
Claire: Well, doesn't it bother you that I'm not a virgin?
Jamie: Well, uh, no. So long as it doesn't bother you that I am.
Claire: You captured my likeness.
Randall: You think so? I'm glad. I shall call it ‘Beautiful Lies’
Frightening or Intense Scenes: Lots of gore, amputations, tons of blood, excessive violence and blood.
