Saoirse is an enchanting little girl who lives with her grandmother in Ireland. There is much more to this child than meets the eye, however. It turns out that she is a selkie. These mysterious beings live as seals in the ocean, but they take on human form outside the sea. She decides that the time has come to return to the sea, and she leaves her home to undertake a perilous journey. On the way there, she meets many others who may have a hidden identity about which they have no knowledge, and she awakens them to their destiny.

Beautiful animation with a featured song that stuck in my head for days....sung beautifully by the voice of Saoirse. Loved the imaginative way Saoirse was transformed from selkie and back to human....magical. Voice of Ben was just right. Lovely fairy tale for both adults and kids.

Characters like Lug, Spud, & Mossy, the Great SeanchaĆ, Macha the Owl Witch, Saoirse, who needs her selkie coat to sing & save the fairy world, and her big brother Ben & his brave and loyal dog, Chu, are reminiscent of the Wizard of Oz. Beautiful hand-drawn artwork versus computer-generated images. Academy-Award nominated family film is worth watching!

This beautiful, magical, moving film has a style all its own. I recommend it for fans of Celtic mythology, fantasy, and/or animation.

A beautiful, dreamy story that is a little funny, a little sad and very sweet. Great for grown-ups too!

The animation and music are the only reason I would recommend seeing this movie. This movie will make you cry. Does not sugar coat the real emotional hurt a family goes through once a family member is gone

Song of the Sea is worth seeing at least once for the animation alone. Visually, it is stunning. I liked the musical score, too. There were parts of the story I liked a lot, but overall I felt the story was missing something or I missed something. It is a bit slow. Song of the Sea is rated PG for some mild peril, language and pipe smoking images. I do not recommend it for very young children since there are quite a few scenes I think they would find scary.

I thought this movie was great. A little sad for kids but I watched it alone. Music was good and characters are fun.

I watched this movie not only once for I like it very much, such as the music, the story, and the beautiful scenes. It is the best animation film I've ever seen. Recommend for everyone.
