Firsthand account of Bush Administration sabotage of I.A.E.A. peace efforts, first by invading Iraq before inspectors could disprove WMD fable, then by thwarting Iranian settlement. The US/Israel would demand an end to lawful Iranian nuclear activity and refuse to negotiate without advance capitulation. Iran would stand fast, but later agree. US/Israel would then demand more, impose harsher sanctions, condemn Iran publicly, insult and vilify her leaders, threaten war, and refuse to negotiate the new demands without prior surrender. The US/Israeli goal was clearly to block any rapprochement and keep Iran a bogey. Obama was different, but still feared rightwing/Zionist condemnation if he acted reasonably. His Nov, 2013 demarche has been met with predictable abuse from Republicans and Israel. (The US has cavalierly violated its own legal obligation to disarm under the Non-proliferation Treaty for many decades. Israel has long maintained a large nuclear arsenal without any accounting at all.)
