Pure propaganda, as to be expected. To correct somewhat the documentary and the commenter below, the FBI was established during the Roosevelt Administration [Teddy] by Napoleon's grandnephew, Charles or Joseph Bonaparte [sorry, always forget his first name], the same Attorney General Bonaparte who wrote the decree breaking up Standard Oil's paper organization, NOT breaking them up financially, or their macro financial structure.
Originally, they were used to unethically, illegally and amorally break up the burgeoning socialist movement in the USA as socialists were winning elections at the state level throughout the country back then [Palmer Raids] and those winners were either thrown in jail or deported if they were immigrants [see the bio on Eugene Debs, please].
In researching in depth the JFK assassination, the RFK assassination, the MLK assassination [only superficially on Rev. King as the area and place was so contained], Sen. Paul Wellstone's highly questionable accident, which killed him, members of his family, and pilot, and the last minute addition co-pilot, Michael Guest, the Army Reservist in military intel who was the one who provided the 20th hijacker, Moussaioui, with Flight Simulator software, the investigation of Flight 800, et cetera, I have found the FBI to be nothing more than a corrupt, political police organization, which has performed frequently in a treasonous and anti-constitutional manner.

This 2003 National-Geographic-Society-produced documentary explores various functions of the Bureau that serves as both a federal criminal investigative body and an internal intelligence agency (counterintelligence).
The agency was established by Theodore Roosevelt in 1908 as the Bureau of Investigation (BOI).
Its name was changed to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in 1935.
The agency has fifty-six field offices located in major cities throughout the United States, and more than 400 resident agencies in lesser cities and areas across the nation.
More than 50 international offices called "legal attach├ęs" exist in U.S. embassies and consulates general worldwide.
This film is quite informative and thought-provoking.
