An authentic rallying cry for anyone who has been affected by bullying. In February 2013, Shane Koyczan's passionate anti-bullying poem "To This Day" electrified the world. An animated video of the lyric narrative went viral, racking up over 12 million hits to date and inspiring an international movement against bullying in schools. Shane later performed the piece to sustained applause on the stage of the 2013 annual TED Conference. Now this extraordinary work has been adapted into an equally moving and visually arresting book. Thirty international artists, as diverse as they are talented, have been inspired to create exceptional art to accompany "To This Day." Each page is a vibrant collage of images, colors and words that will resonate powerfully with anyone who has experienced bullying themselves, whether as a victim, observer, or participant. Born of Shane's own experiences of being bullied as a child, To This Day expresses the profound and lasting effect of bullying on an individual, while affirming the strength and inner resources that allow people to move beyond the experience. A heartfelt preface and afterword, along with resources for kids affected by bullying, make this book an invaluable centerpiece of the anti-bullying movement.

A personal look at how bullying can affect a child. This story is at times hard to read, but, ultimately has a positive message for kids who may not feel accepted by their peers. The illustrations in this book add a whole 'nother level.

Thought I'd give this book a try just for the topic alone . And so glad I did as this is a powerful book . This extraordinary poem has been illustrated by 30 artists from around the world. This poem comes out of the Author , Shane Koyczan's , personal experiences of being bullied as a child. This book expresses the profound and lasting effect of bullying on an individual . While also affirming the inner strength that allows people to move beyond the name calling and bullying . Recommend this book for any age , not just young adults but adults also .

It would be great for teaching. It would be great for kids who are depressed or being bullied, but generally kids would not go out of their way to read it. It has quality and purpose though.

I never liked poems and when I first picked this book, i thought it was a story but when opened it, found it’s a poem, I wanted to turn it back but decided to give it a chance, and I’m so happy I did. The poem is written for anyone that is being bullied, anyone that has witnessed bullying or anyone that may be bullying somebody else. It speaks of the things people are often bullied about, the feeling of loneliness that accompanies bullying and the long lasting effects that bullying can have on people. The book is a continuation of the original video project, and comprises the poem, written by Koyczan, with original artwork from 30 artists from all around the world, from Germany to Japan, Peru to Canada, Australia to the UK. This book (or more collectively, poem) was written with all the emotions that someone who has experienced bullying is familiar with. I remember my first year of high school being an absolute nightmare, and when reading this book/poem, I felt all the emotions that I felt then: isolation, loss, confusion, anxiety, etc. There are very little poems that I can say have made me feel this way. Knowing that others have felt this way has given me relief and closure on those days of the past. Every classroom across America, and even the world, should have this book on hand. It truly speaks to the bullying culture that still affects the lives of children and teens today. Not to mention that the artwork is absolutely gorgeous and resonates with each word that was carefully chosen for each page. I commend Koyczan for approaching such a difficult subject, i really do. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shane_Koyczan
