One man's wild, lifelong adventure of testing society's boundaries through his subversive art combines traditional documentary storytelling with original animation culled from seven decades worth of art from the renegade children's book author and illustrator. Using a palette of 20th century events to paint an artist's epic yet controversial life story, the film offers a retrospective of Ungerer's life and art.

This documentary is visually and intellectually stimulating. Ungerer's personal experience put the audience in perspective of his work. This film is true to the artist's creative process, which is influenced very much by what he had seen around him. It is amazing to see his journey pursuing what he is interested in, and at the same time, pushing the public's boundary on the image of a children's book author. He seems very spirited even in his old age, passionate about life and art. Very inspirational.

A titillating story of an intelligent artist. To be able to survive all that Mr. Ungerer has and continue to have such a realistically, not rosily positive outlook makes for an amazingly inspiring story.
