With nearly 1,500 Broadway performances, six Tony Awards, more than three million albums sold, and five Academy Awards, The Sound of Music, based on the lives of Maria, the baron, and their singing children, is as familiar to most of us as our own family history. But much about the real-life woman and her family was left untold.

Here, Baroness Maria Augusta Trapp tells in her own beautiful, simple words the extraordinary story of her romance with the baron, their escape from Nazi-occupied Austria, and their life in America.

Now with photographs from the original edition.

This is a great read. It gives you a more in depth perception of Captain Von Trapp and what happened to him during the war. Loved this book!

For anyone who has watched and enjoyed the musical The Sound of Music, this is a must read. Written by the real Maria Trapp, the writing style is fun and conversational. Her honesty in the events that occurred will leave readers amazed and encouraged. This is a wonderful family who endured one of the hardest times in history. Their love for each other and trust in God is sure to impact readers.

The book on which the play, and movie are based is totally amazing,How the Von Trapp family escaped nazi propaganda, and the nazi's themselves,is very inspirational, showing the human spirit is capable,of doing great things, and that faith is also important, how God will use people,to not only do his will, but to help others,i hope and pray, that other people will see the book, and movie, and let God inspire them, and be rewarded.God bless, all who do His will. This book,is a great book and should be required reading, about the evils of propaganda, and that if a lie is told long enough may sound like the truth. But that God has the final word. And that we should always read our bible, and remember that God is in charge.Thank you.!
