I was interested in this because I recently read "Various Positions" (Martha Schabas), a really good novel about ballet in which the main character admires Gelsey Kirkland and mentions her biography as a favourite book. Now, the first third was engrossing but the last two thirds I felt resigned from, they weren't engaging. It seemed like all she was doing was going on and on, complaining and blaming other people for her hardships, while neglecting to find any strength of character in herself to change her situation. Disappointing and the ending wasn't worth slogging through all those pages. I felt like she lost interest writing the book and just wanted to get it over with.
