Two million fish washed ashore. One thousand blackbirds dropped from the sky. On July 4, 2009, a deadly menace swept through the quaint seaside town of Claridge, Maryland, but the harrowing story of what happened that Independence Day has never been told, until now. The authorities believe they have buried the truth about the tragedy that claimed over 700 human lives. Now, three years later, a reporter has emerged with footage revealing both the cover-up and unimaginable killer: a mysterious parasitic outbreak. Told from the perspective of those who were there and say what happened, The Bay unfolds over 24 hours through people's iPhones, Androids, 911 calls, webcams, and whatever else could be used to document the nightmare in Claridge.

Wasn't bad. Very different to your average horror movie. Felt much more like a compilation documentary. Unlike other movies like this, the narration adds direction and at no point does the movie get confusing. Check it out if you're into outbreak movies or this sort of docu-horror style.

Couldn't keep watching this. It made me feel ill. As Vrouk said, "...this should have been a horror movie..."

The biggest shame is that this should have been a horror movie instead of a faux-documentary movie. It had so much potential and could have been incredibly frightening. Instead voice overs cut the tension and way too many cuts ruins the mood. Good found footage movies allow a scene to breath which makes it that much more terrifying when something happens. In this one you know when something is going to happen and it isn't scary. I kept waiting for the scares and they didn't happen. Also, what century is that hospital from? No x-ray, CT scans, or MRI to detect the problem?

in the end, i liked it. It was bad in a few places, silly in others, predictable in some and kinda scary in others. (I grew up in the Chesapeake Bay area, so i think it creeped me out a little more than it should have...) it's ok. Good sunday afternoon movie.

Docudrama about the infestation of a deadly mutant isopod along with the parasite Cymothoa in the polluted waters of a Chesapeake Bay from heavy biochemical runoffs. The movie's innovation is to present the story using social media with smart phone and webcams footage.

This was really scary. I actually woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't go back to sleep for wondering whether it was based on fact. The next day I went right to the Internet and found out it was fiction. The film still makes a good point though. We can't keep pouring stuff into the water and expect that there won't eventually be consequences.

BORING. cliched, terrible filming style & worse script. sound is messed up too, had to watch with subtitles. so bored we switched it off after 30 mins. i mean they give u the answer to the "mystery" in the first 5 mins! xmas turkey came early! not sure which was worse, the writing or the acting. thank goddess we didnt have to pay to rent it or we would want our money back - still they owe us 30 mins of our lives we cant get back! avoid unless u need your insomnia curing.

A better than average (due to different storyline) "found footage" horror movie. Typically these films involve possession or hauntings. This one is creepy crawlies. Decent gore effects. Poorly acted and filmed with a variety of low grade cameras. Still, a few scenes gave me the willies so I gave it 3 stars.

Very cool movie! I found it so interesting. Probably planning to buy it in the future.

The Bay is a found footage style film about parasites killing an entire small town on the forth of July, you know, because even parasitic bugs love a party and feel patriotic! This is actually not a bad movie, it has a decent creepy feel, and works for a found footage movie because the way they set it up, using news reports, security cameras and atm footage to show how these nasty parasites basically wipe out this town. It is not a true found footage movie, with actual camera work telling at least have the story within and outside the town, but that is a good thing. Check it out if you are in the mood for horror or just love parasitic bugs?
