A most unwelcome guest surprises Diana at her engagement party--the husband she thought was dead!

Diana Brennan came west on the orphan train and was given a home with a loving couple who cherished and spoiled her. At 17, she fell hard for Tyson Applegate, the son of a wealthy mine owner. After a whirlwind courtship and marriage, Tyson took o for adventures around the world, including fighting with the Rough Riders in Cuba. Receiving no word of him in years, Diana is ready to move past the old pain and marry again, just as soon as Tyson is declared legally dead.

But when Tyson returns, supposedly a changed man, he wants to reunite with his wife and run for the senate. While Diana suspects the election is his real reason for wanting her by his side, she agrees to maintain his home and to campaign with him, but when it is over, win or lose, she wants her freedom.

He agrees with one condition--she must give him a chance to change her mind about him.

This was an excellent book that kept me interested. The author wrote about the trials and tribulations of Diana and Tyson and their journeys of discovery about them selves and about God's love for them. The ending was very touching and will bring you to happy tears as they find that things work out amazing well when we let God have control of our lives.

I already know what the ending was going to be. I agree with LadySuger.... the the story-line wasn't well developed.

I wanted to love this book. The premise of the story was very interesting and I was excited to pick it up. An 'almost widow' is about to get engaged just to have her persumed dead and very wealthy husband return from the dead. The beautiful wife must wrestle and overcome unforgiveness because her husband abandoned her years earlier before his reported death. Now, upon his resurrection, her husband is ready to start again and restore their marriage. This was all very interesting expect the plot and characters did not deliver. Halfway through the book, the story began to wilt and the characters became irritable. The wife, DIana became rather annoying. Furthermore the plot began to take on unecessary and distracting details like the emphasis on her love for stray animals who were always running around and wasting the reader's time. Overall, the conflict and reconcillation between husband and wife was very weak because the author did not take time to really develop the characters and their relationships.
