"Skyfall" is a solid action flick with Daniel Craig doing his best to fill James Bond's shoes and not disappoint the fans.

After I had seen a Quantum Solace I swore off Bond films for a while. He was such a cold blooded killer in that movie, and Bond movies were always somewhat campy and fun - not that one. I also found some parts laughable, they were so badly scripted. However, my enjoyment of Bond was revived with Skyfall. Here we are having some fun - and surprises, and the actors once more look like they are enjoying themselves. A good romp for everyone.

My favorite Bond movie for countless reasons: cinematography, plot, acting, dialogue, music, etc.

Women as competent colleagues---not just beddable bimbos or compromised spies--is a welcome development for Mr. Bond (the beautiful Naomie Harris plays an amused, aloof Ms. Moneypenny who accidentally shoots and nearly kills him, Bond noting later that to her credit, moving targets are hard to hit.) Bond faces the difficulties of aging prowess, cybercrime, and a weirdly, wonderfully unhinged villain in Javier Bardem. The plot of course has its fantastic elements, where Bond chases villains through visually stunning Turkey, Macau, Shanghai, and Britain, winding up in a scorched earth battle among the heather and the gamekeeper's wry comment: "Welcome to Scotland!". At the end, M's cheap china bulldog carries its symbolism gracefully and powerfully: love of country remains.

I like Daniel Craig's James Bond. The Scottish scenery in this one is worth watching for that alone. Very well done.

Javier Bardem as a blonde was creepy in itself, and made a good Bond arch-villain. Craig was his usual one dimensional self.

When watching a James Bond film one must expect a patently ludicrous storyline with lots of stuff blowing up and "Skyfall" is certainly no exception. But the enjoyment lies in the execution and this instalment practically flies by in a riot of gunfire, explosions, and a few welcome cameos from Daniel Craig’s rock hard pecs. The plot, involving stolen NATO secrets and a malicious hacker, simply provides a framework in which to showcase all those eye-popping (or eye-rolling depending on your sensibilities) action sequences: a wild motorcycle chase along the rooftops of Istanbul; a fire & brimstone showdown over the Scottish moors, and a surreal confrontation atop a neon-lit Shanghai skyscraper are just some of the highlights. But say good-bye to the suave sophistication and ingenious gadgets of Sean Connery or Roger Moore; Craig’s Bond is a coarse and sullen wild card with haunted eyes and a quick trigger finger facing his declining years with a mixture of stubborn resolve and perhaps a few unvoiced regrets. If you can ignore some yawning plot holes (a puzzling sexual dalliance starts nowhere and goes nowhere), fantastical plot devices, and 007’s uncanny ability to dodge hundreds of bullets (save two), you may just walk away feeling as if you haven't wasted your time. Great opening credits sequence too!

Not worth the wait... worst Bond film I have seen. As a "stand alone" movie... not bad. But when you compare it to previous Bond movies.. disappointing to say the least. Can't understand why anyone would give it more than a 5 out of 10.

Q: There are only about six people in the world who could set up fail-safes like this.
Bond: Can you get past them?
Q: I invented them.

Bond: Your competence is.
Q: Age is no guarantee of efficiency.
Bond: And youth is no guarantee of innovation.
Q: Well, I'll hazard I can do more damage on my laptop sitting in my pajamas before my first cup of Earl Grey than you can do in a year in the field.
===
Bond: You ready?
Kincade: I was ready before you were born, son.

Raoul (on Bond's file): Medical evaluation - fail. Physical evaluation - fail. Psychological evaluation, alcohol and substance addiction indicated. Ooh! Pathological rejection of authority based on unresolved childhood trauma.

Bond: In your defense, a moving target is harder to hit.
Eve: Then you'd better keep moving.
