Not sure what its distorting or leaving out as the previous commentator didn't state what. What I took away from it was that the moors had a much greater influence on European culture than the Europeans would like to admit. What exactly that influence entails is obviously up for debate. It is a beautifully shot documentary and the host is very enthusiastic in the telling. Whatever the historical merits its a highly watchable documentary. I enjoyed it very much. Makes me want to learn more on the subject and that can't be a bad thing.

I agree with Theophilia in some sense. This was a very well done documentary, but it certainly has an agenda. Repeatedly we are assured that not only were the conquering Moors the more enlightened, benevolent rulers, but that they actually invaded Spain to help the people of the Iberian peninsula.

The DVD does do an excellent job highlighting the apparent ignorance of the average Spaniard when it comes to the influence of the Moorish muslims on Spain.

More interesting for what it distorts and leaves out, than for what it says. Some beautiful shots of Islamic design and architecture.
