This is an excellent book about a piece of Canadian history. I read it as "Laura's Choice" (a different edition) which I think is a better title because it shows the struggle she goes through. Laura Ingersoll is actually an American girl who moves north to Upper Canada with her family and falls in love with James Secord. When the war of 1812 happens, Laura helps the Canadian soldiers out and saves many lives. Connie Brummel Crook writes a lot of backstory, some of it fictional, but it's really interesting. I recommend this book for teenagers and adults.
