(The crew has been jailed, and Peppi has become ill and fainted) Nickie Haroyen: "A doctor! A doctor! Somebody get a doctor! A doctor! We gotta have a doctor!" Black Prisoner #1: "What's the matter with that white boy -- he got the miseries?!?"

Black Prisoner #3 (singing): "My mama done told me... When I was in knee-pants... My mama done told me... Son... A woman'll sweet-talk... And give you the big-eye... But when that sweet talkin's done... A woman's a two-face... A worrisome thing who'll leave you to sing the blues... in the night..."

This one's really unusual; a combined film noir/bluesy musical. The story is corny but cute -- basically a sextet of naïve, happy go lucky boxcar jumping hobos chasing their dreams of making music... and they unfortunately fall into a rut with a friendly thug and his deadly ex-dame. Loved the cast, especially the opportunity to see one of my favorite directors as an actor, before making his classics. Elia Kazan. The dream sequences/montages were a trip (Don Siegel); and the theme song as well. Don't miss the bonus material, if you enjoy swing/jazz etc., specifically "Jammin' The Blues". Really unique film here. I loved it.
