I always like these characters, and the story was quite interesting, and the dénoument well worth reading. However, I found a couple of points where the author seemed to have made a mistake -- one character described as another, for example. And, *small spoiler*, dogs described as starving when there was dog food available and the dogs were clearly loved, and the dogs described as defecating, when starving animals don't do that. Perhaps the author is getting old, as we all do.

Authors tend to get into a rut with familiar characters such as Delaware and Sturgis, and Kellerman has done it with this one. This book was the first Kellerman I didn't actually finish. The book consists of little more than interesting descriptions of each new person the duo goes to interview. These descriptions are vivid and well-written, and he clearly has an eye for the idiosyncrasies of people, but it does get tiresome after the sixth or seventh one. The story plods, and towards the end it was just getting more and more preposterous. I would skip it unless you particularly enjoy his brief character studies.

Love this narrator! The story is good but *spoiler* I didn't quite get the jump to assuming Shakar was a fraud - they didn't even consider the possibility of it being a descendant. It works but it was a bit of a leap in deductive process.
