I enjoyed the mystery of this story as it developed, but the ending was a bit abrupt after taking so much time to develop the plot line. Looking forward to reading the sequel!

Incredible! I watched the movie before reading the books. My daughter did the opposite and mentioned that some of the characters were changed. So I decided to read the books to get the true, full story. I love the book and am now a new Ransom Riggs fan.

I thought this book was fantastic! I finished it very quickly because I couldn't put it down. It has a unique story line and I'm excited to read the second book in the series. I really liked that he was finding old pictures and used them to write a book. It's like an adult picture book plus a great novel :)

A simple novel with a fascinating setting. This book was entertaining and provided an adventure worth exploring, but lacked a sophistication. The characters are not as deep as they could be and no complex morals or questions were presented. A solid 3.5/5

Wow. I was shivering, gulping, laughing, and clutching the book till my knuckles were white! I'm still blinking a little at the ending, but I am very excited to read the rest of the trilogy. The photos were really well collaborated with the story and I really liked the author's way of writing. It wasn't AS creepy as I thought it might be when I started reading this book, which was just as well, since I don't like too creepy books. Please read this amazing piece of art!

Personally didn't enjoy this novel, was expecting something a little more dark and spooky. Really didn't get me very excited, and the end was poor.

Amazing book! Ready to start π˜“π˜ͺ𝘣𝘳𝘒𝘳𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘚𝘰𝘢𝘭𝘴. The series is extremely compelling, bringing me to the edge of my seat nearly every turn of a page. The photography harmonically complements the text itself, and is overall a great addition to the story. I would love if Riggs were to create another series.
