Nieve is a story about a girl. A girl who has to try to save the world from darkness. The plot was unbelievable because the darkness will never attack the world. Although some of the people could be real some couldn't. Nieve is a smart and witty girl for example when she was told to eat the jawbreaker she didn't because she heard what they did to you. Nieve is pretty cool she saw demons and stared darkness in the eye and didn't back down. My favorite part of the book was when they introduced the septiclops because I like cool creature like that. This book reminds me of a video game I have played called Alan Wake it's about a guy who must kill the darkness (the taken) with a pistol and a flashlight to save his wife because the darkness kidnapped her. The rating I would give this book is 8 out of 10. I would definitely recommend this book to people who like dark fantasy and suspense.

I really disliked the book Nieve by Terry Griggs. It was a slow book about a girl who lived in a small town. Bad weeds came and every one got turned into furniture. Then a 7 eyed creature came and wiped out everyone but a little girl and her friends. The book is mostly slow and boring. I also thought it was unbelievable because the weeds where black and there was a skeleton dog and a skeleton car and people where invisible there was also monsters that where short, fat , tall and skinny. I also could not identify the characters because if I was them I would just get in a fight with a monster and lose or I might trip and fall into the weed patch and be eaten. My least favorite part was when the gowl attacked Nieve and fireflys came out of a med kit and killed the gowl. This novel reminded me of the book Coraline because both books have 2 worlds and both have 2 mothers one creepy and one normal. If I had to rate this book I would give it a 1 out of 10 because I did not find it interesting . I also did not like the characters. I would recommend this book for people ages 9 to 14.

Nieve.... I really didn't like this book by Terry Griggs. The setting for the novel was a dark, mysterious, and gruesome place. In this book people get turned into furniture and creepy, frightful and very very wierd creatures that hide behind doors and sneak up behind you. Nieve is on a mission to find her home and save her friends but things go wrong. The book is very unbelievable though. It doesn't draw the reader in to try to figure out what is going to happen next, or how they can get out of their situation. To be honest plants trying to eat you and people being turned into chairs, it' s just too unrealistic for me, it just seems wierd. I couldn't really connect with many of the characters and how they were feeling because there were too many problems around them. Also I didn't like the main character Nieve because she just seemed to complain but never do anything about it. When Nieve says things like "I need to get out of here", I think but you're not doing a thing to change ur future. My least favourite character and part was Lias' mom and when she says to Nieve "I am your mother and you are my daughter" at dinner. And they were eating stinky, gristly, charred lumbs of gowl like EW! That is disgusting. Why would someone eat something similar to a dog? Although my favourite part is the ending to be fair, I only like the last two words "THE END!" This is like the book Ghost Ride. It doesn't draw the reader in. The book starts really slow and seems very weird to imagine some random woman trying to claim you as her mother. I rate this novel 1 out of 10 because it was just not appealing. I wouldn't really recommend this to anyone but maybe somebody between the ages of 9-13. The words are hard to comprehend and it just doesn't really fit with the novel setting. I just didn't like this book =\

This book was absolutely amazing! It was creepy, eerie and mysterious! I found it perfect and definitely my style in reading! And the illustrations were absolutely petrifying! I LOVED it! Just turning the page to a twisted illustration was thrilling! Not only my favourite Red Maple book, but also one of my favourite books overall.

The world of Nieve is a very mysterious, dark, intriguing place. It was pretty interesting, and the illustrations helped to add to the story, but I felt the ending was somewhat abrupt.
