This was cute, but could have been better. The story isn't that great- what saves it is the story format. The story speeds along (probably too quickly) as it's told through letters and notes. Great idea, but having already read Illuminae, it's nothing new for me. I understand it's a middle grade book, but certain things made no sense- who would leave their 11 year old child in an empty house over the summer, and stick the renter with his care? Not only is that illegal, but you don't know the stranger who will rent the house. The whole thing is nonsensical. Yes, I know, the ghost cooks for him and writes him letters. I understand that's ridiculous too. It is a fun, quick read- I finished it in one sitting. I wonder if the kids this book is aimed at will get all the name puns? This isn't something my kids would like, but I can certainly see the larger appeal.

This book in the beginning I thought would be just people sending messages to each other but when I got into the book I felt good the story moved me now I know that it is ok to move on with your life. If my teacher asks me what my favorite book is I will tell her it was Dying to meet you. Know I will read the second book and see if it is as good as the first one. I hope you read it.

Unique epistolary format that should be lots of fun, but I don't think kids will get all of the puns. It's not quite my cup of tea... but close!

This is a unique book. I like how it's a story made up of letters, but you can still tell what's going on.

This book is really good. As a random pick I was honestly hooked to this book. An author buys a house to rent for the summer. Little does he know that an 11 year old boy, his cat, and a ghost(which was once a writer) are his roomates. This grumpy auuthor finds life again through the eyes of this ghost, and the child. Read it, fun book.
