This book was recommended to me by a friend. In actual fact, I am relieved that I did not purchase Anjum’s New Indian! Authentic though they may be, the recipes I tried were extremely time consuming, the ingredients hard to find, prohibitively expensive, not to mention the requirement for specialized cooking equipment….yeah, like I have time for that. (?!!!) Having said that, the production values are beautiful, the photos gorgeous, and the recipes I made were good. Not great, just good.
In my opinion, the various and sundry components required to cook the recipes in this book are not in actual fact practical for the home cook. Perhaps I would feel differently if I cooked Indian every night but alas I do not. I am more of an occasional cook. Once, twice or thrice a month.
This is a great book for inspiration and presentation ideas.
