This was even better than it sounded! Collins has created a whole new world using only words. I was intrigued the whole time and stayed up most of the night to finish this. The idea of North America's destruction and The Hunger Games and tributes being used for entertainment is horrific, but so incredible at the same time. Katniss Everdeen is badass, rebellious, unique and admirable. One of my favorite heroines of all time. - Lyla, age 12

This book is so good I just read it and plan on reading again soon. I love it so much I bought my own copy for myself. 😍

Katniss could not have been more annoying! I read this right before the first movie came out because everyone was talking about it. I was not really impressed, though I thought the idea behind the games and the action was interesting.

Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark are two good friends who participate in an annual challenge called the Hunger Games. The rules of the game are 1 person has to remain alive while the others are dead. You pretty much have to kill one another and try to be the last one standing. In this book, it will be hard to try to work together and build friendships because anyone can easily turn on your back and kill you. It is very competitive and there are 12 participants in this game, 1 from each of the 12 districts. There can only be one champion, even if there are 2 or more participants form the same district.

Wonderful, with the right amount of rebellion, sacrifice, relationship, and reality. A real page turner! This is definitely one of my all time favourite dystopian novels. Actually, the whole series are amazingly written, but my favourite is this one.

I LOVED the whole series! My favorite book was Catching Fire, but they were all amazing. Collins created wonderful, believable characters, and a marvelous trilogy that left me crying that it was over. I would recommend this to Harry Potter and Selection fans.

I LOVED it. Nothing can beat reading a good book for the first time, but reading The Hunger Games for the fortieth time is pretty close. There are so many details and plot twists that it's hard to remember what happens in what order, which makes for great reading, again and again and again.
EVERLARK FOREVER!

Taking the kids from our districts, forcing them to kill one another while we watch – this is the Capitol’s way of reminding us how totally we are at their mercy. How little chance we would stand of surviving another rebellion. Whatever words they use, the real message is clear. “Look how we take your children and sacrifice them and there’s nothing you can do. If you lift a finger, we will destroy every last one of you. Just as we did in District Thirteen.” (1.76)
