I've read this book and its prequel Murkmere twice.

If I could describe these books simply with several adjectives I would choose: Intriguing, gloomy, and bittersweet.

I cherish this series like I would a child. Although I love it dearly I would be afraid to let it go mainstream, as I would fear the grime of humanity would somehow spoil it.

Altogether a FANTASTIC AND ETHEREAL NOVEL. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
