This is the first edition of a collection of short biographies aimed at teens and kids. Meant to inspire young women, the topics of the biography come from a variety of fields, sports, arts, politics, science.

There are two weaknesses in this book. First is inherent to entire "Rocked the World" series, the little commentaries from modern children of how they will rock the world. These may appeal to the younger reader, but the middle/high school crowd scoff at these. Second, and bigger, is the choice of heroes. A lot of the women are there because they are athletic or can sing well. These are hard skills to aspire to for most people. A richer choice from the politicians, the scientists and activists would have made this book better.
