The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation was created to learn about, to remember, and to honour the lost children and survivors of residential schools, their families and communities.
At our Downtown, Dawe, and Timberlands locations, we will have a Family Learning Center set up with stories, guided discussion questions, and activity sheets to assist families wanting to read and learn together.
In addition, at our Downtown branch, we will be showing two films that help create a better understanding of this tragic history. At 11 a.m., we will be showing 'The Grizzlies' and at 3 p.m. we will be showing 'Indian Horse.'
We also encourage you to wear orange to raise awareness of the very tragic legacy of residential schools, and to honour the thousands of survivors.
** If you have been affected by the residential school system and need help, you can contact the 24-hour Indian Residential Schools Crisis Line at 1-866-925-4419. **
